Xarelto is a new anticoagulant (blood thinner) being prescribed to prevent the risk of blood clots and strokes.  The manufacturer (Janssen Pharmaceuticals) and co-marketer (Bayer Healthcare) promote the drug over other anticoagulants, such as Coumadin, because it does not require medical monitoring.  However, Xarelto reports link it to an increased risk of uncontrollable bleeding.  Anticoagulants always has a risk of hemorrhage but most anticoagulants have an antidote.  Xarelto does not have an antidote.  Currently, lawsuits against Janssen and Bayer claim that they failed to warn patients and physicians of the increased risk of irreversible and fatal internal bleeding.

These lawsuits, claiming damages from bleeding and death, have been consolidated into Multi-District Litigation (MDL) in federal courts.  The MDL litigation is involved with obtaining documents and taking depositions of the pharmaceutical company employees.

If you or a loved one have suffered bleeding as a result of taking Xarelto, you can call Mike at 913-789-7477 to request a free consultation for your claim.
